My self planned itinerary to make the best use of 2 days time in Bangkok.

The Grand Palace, Bangkok
Temples inside The Grand Palace

What to Expect in Bangkok?

In 2024 Bangkok was ranked on top and became the most  visited city. The reason is simple, Bangkok has everything to offer for everyone. Heritage, temples, local food, night life, shopping, Thai massage, rooftop bars, river cruise, theme parks, zoo, safari and beaches in just 2 hours, and very well maintained public places and local hospitality. So Bangkok is a must visit city for at least 2 days to experience something for your taste.

What’s in this article ?

Where to Stay in Bangkok ?

Khaosan Art Hotel
My Favourite Hotel in Khao San Road,

It depends on your selection of places in your itinerary which I have explained below.

Book Hotel near Khaosan road so it will be closer to the temples as well and easy to go for day 1 temple tour, If your itinerary includes Khao San Road nightlife. Or If you want to visit Na nana plaza then book in Asok area in Sukhumvit line so after the night life party you will not be too far from your hotel.

Online Booking -  Use Booking.com, Agoda or Hostelworld in advance at least a few days in advance for a good price. Budget hotels get full early and especially on weekends you won’t find much.

Local Transportation in Bangkok.

Bangkok BTS
Bangkok Metro BTS

Booking App  - Grab and Bolt apps work in Thailand everywhere. You can login with your country's mobile number as well. Bolt is cheaper.

Bike Riders - There are many offline riders standing near shopping malls, night markets, temples, BTS, MRT (Bangkok metro trains) or any important places, who can take you around anywhere. It’s also a good choice if you don’t have an app to book. You can also find tuk tuk at many places.

Meter Taxi -  This is also a good choice as meter taxis are also everywhere but it’s expensive compared to Bike taxis.

MotorBike Rental Price - Price varies between 300 THB - 600 THB depends on hours. They may ask you to keep your passport. So take it wisely. Though there are not tough checks for driving licenses, it’s good to have to avoid any bad circumstances. And always follow the traffic rules while riding.

BTS and MRT  -  These are metro services in Bangkok and use it if your destinations are inline in metro lines.

Shared Pickup Car  - There are also shared pickup cars which run in Bangkok and mostly connect to metro lines. The maximum fare is only 10 THB and this is the cheapest mode of transportation in Bangkok.

Bangkok tip

Quick Tip: I Prefer to use Shared Pickup Car or Bolt to connect with metro lines then I use metro. But if you’re more than 2 person and don’t want much hassle then either use Bolt or Taxi meter.

Best Time to Visit Bangkok, Thailand

Dry Season in Central and South Thailand starts October and stays till Early May where temperature varies between 20 - 30 degree celsius. Afternoon is sunny but you will not feel humid in Bangkok this time. Evening is pleasant. This is the best time to visit Bangkok.

December to mid January is even better because due to Christmas and new year you will see city lights and decorations at its best. You will also see fireworks and Chao Pharaya river throughout December on scheduled dates. Not just that, you can see many local culture events and markets and several places in Bangkok.

But Thailand can be visited anytime whole year.

Some More Personal Tips

  • Try mostly local food, look for the  night market near you for the best food experiences. Night market is basically a local food market at many places in Bangkok and every city or town in Thailand.

  • Try to use metro as much as possible, but if you’re more than 2 people then use bolt or meter taxi. Avoid renting bike in the city.

  • Don’t bargain in shops as they don’t like it and it won’t help.

  • Don’t speak loudly in metro as it’s not Thai culture to speak in public places.
